Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Montville Kiwanis Food Pantry. Our volunteers are essential to our mission of providing food assistance to individuals and families struggling with food insecurity.

Whether you are looking to give a few hours a month or take on a more active role, there are a variety of ways to get involved.

Volunteer Opportunities

Shift Captain (Age 21+)

Serve as the lead point person for a designated pantry shift. Shift Captains supervise and guide the volunteer team, oversee operations from opening through closing, and ensure accurate, respectful, and consistent food distribution.

Shift Volunteers (Age 21+)

Support client-facing pantry operations during distribution. Responsibilities include assisting patrons, packing and distributing food, restocking shelves, and helping maintain an organized and efficient flow.

Receiving Team

Assist with receiving incoming food deliveries and pantry stock. This is an on-call role requiring flexibility.

Details:

• Approx. 20 minutes’ notice to report to pantry

• Flexible 2-hour on-call window

• Coverage needed Sunday, Monday, or Tuesday

Table to Table Intake – Whole Foods

Help process fresh food donations from Whole Foods. Volunteers review product quality, sort items for distribution, and remove unusable items.

Administrative Support

Support behind-the-scenes efforts including communications, fundraising initiatives, outreach, and general operational support for both the pantry and Montville Kiwanis.

Volunteer Guidelines

• Some roles require volunteers to be 21 years of age or older, particularly those involving leadership or client-facing distribution.

• Training will be provided as needed.

• We are committed to maintaining a respectful, welcoming, and dignified environment for all patrons and volunteers.
